Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: (a) Location - 1 Deer Island, Amesbury, MA: On or about 05/18/06, employees were exposed to serious crushing hazards while working with a Terex Truck Crane that was set on unstable ground. Among other feasible means of abatement would be a) To place the crane on appropriate sized cribbing or pontoon mats to displace the load on the water saturated ground. b) Follow the manufacturers recommendations for the placement of crane.ent
