Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Falls of approximately 30 feet to ground when climbing on the rails of the Simon Scissor Lift. (a) On 11/16/2007 at the Stoelting Company employees were exposed to a fall of approximately 30 feet to ground while climbing on the rails of the Simon Scissor Lift to paint the upper sections of the presses that they were working on. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct the hazard would be to follow the Manual of Responsibilities the ANSI/SIA A92.6-1999, Section 7.10.(9) Personnel Footing, which states that personnel shall maintain a firm footing of the platform floor while working thereon. Abatement Certification and Abatement Documentation required.
