Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to death in case of landslide by structural faults:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a muerte en caso de derrumbes por fallas estructurales:
It was observed the floor and ceiling in different classrooms and offices
with cracks.  The floor
of the counselor office was unlevel, three inches, arts room had cracks in
the floor with a depth
of one-eighth of an inch (1 / 8") and width of three-fourths of inches (3
/ 4") and in the second
floor, the math classroom had cracks on the floor of an 1 / 8 inches. One
feasible
and abatement
method among other to correct this hazard is:
1.Repair the floor and ceiling of the classroom.
2.Perform a structural study of the building and soil test to determine if
the building are
safe.
Se observo que el piso y los plafones en diferentes salones y oficinas
tenian grietas. El piso de
la oficina del orientador estaba desnivelado, tres pulgadas, salon de arte
el piso tenia grietas de
una profundidad de un octavo de pulgada (1/8") y 3/4 de pulg. y en el
segundo piso en el salon
de matematicas tenia grietas en el piso de un octavo de pulgada (1/8"). Un
metodo viable para
corregir este riesgo, entre otros metodos que pueden ser utilizados para
corregir este riesgo es:
1.Reparar el piso y techo de los salones.
2.Realizar un estudio estructural y un estudio de suelo para determinar si
el area de trabajo
es segura.
