Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:respiratory disease, allergenic reaction and skin irritation and dermatitis. Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a:enfermedades respiratorias, reacciones alergicas e irritacion de la piel y dermatitis. a)At ASSMCA TASC program in Arecibo works eleven employees,performing general office works. Working areas were observed with the following conditions: Air conditioning system did not receive maintenance as requiered:The ducts,filters, air outlet were dirty and insulating material was deteriorated. The Acoustic ceilings had accumulation of dust and strain due to ceiling filtration problems and some acoustics were missing. Employees were exposed to respiratory disease, allergic reaction, skin irritation and bacterial or fungi. Four feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: 1.Clean and replace the air conditioner filters on regular schedule to maintain the efficiency and prevent dust accumulation. 2.Use filters of high efficiency in the air conditioning system to reduce the growth of bacterias and fungus. 3.Ducts Cleaning. 4.Removed all acoustic ceiling that have dust accumulation and strain of humidity to prevent and reduce microbial growth. a)En ASSMCA programa TASC en arecibo trabajaban once empleados realizando tareas generales de oficina. Areas de trabajo se observaron con las siguientes condiciones: Sistema de aire acondicionado no recibio mantenimiento segun requerido: ductos, filtros salidas de aire fresco estaban sucias, material aislante estaba deteriorado. Algunos techos acusticos tenian acumulacion de polvo y manchas de humedad y faltaban algunos acusticos. Empleados fueron expuestos a enfermedades respiratorias, reacciones alergicas, irritacion de la piel y dermatitis. Cuatro metodos factibles y aceptables entre otros metodos para corregir estos riesgos son: 1.Limpiar y reemplazar los filtros de aire acondicionado en un programa regular para mantener la eficiencia y prevenir la acumulacion de polvo. 2.Utilizar filtros de alta eficiencia para reducir el crecimiento de bacterias y hongos. 3.Limpiar los ductos. 4.Remover todos los techos acusticos que tienen acumulacion de polvo y manchados para prevenir el crecimiento microbiano.
