Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to: eye irritation, temporay or permanent vision impairment, or
blindness.
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:irritacion de los ojos, dano temporero o permanente a la vision.
a)At Cordillera Filter Plant in Camuy works four operators, one per shift.
Near
Chlorine room  there was an eyewash station that one of the spray head was
missing, eye station was not kept clean. Also eyewash unit was not
activated
weekly to flush the line and verify proper used. Operators may be expose
to eye
irritation, temporay or permanent vision impairment, or blindness. One
fisible and
abatement method among others to correct the hazard is:
1.Instal missing spray heads with dust covers to protect spray heads from
airborne contaminants.
2.Clean eye wash.
3.Eye wash unit shall be activated weekly to flush the line and verify
proper
operation.
a)En la  Planta Filtro Cordilleras en Ciales  trabajaban cuatro operadores
de planta,
uno por turno. Cerca del cuarto de cloro habia una estacion de lavado de
ojos que
le faltaba una de las boquillas de riego, no se mantuvo limpia ni fue
activada
semanalmente de modo que se limpiara la linea y verificar que estaba
operando
correctamente. Empleados pueden estar expuesto a irritacion, dano
temporero o
permanente a la vision. Un metodo para corregir estos riesgos son.
1.Instalar la boquilla de riego que falta, las tapas protectoras de las
boquillas
para protegerlas de contaminantes en el aire.
2.Limpiar la estacion de lavado de ojos.
3.Estacion de lavado de ojos debe ser activada semanalmente para que se
limpie la linea y verificar que esta operando correctamente

exposed to lack of knowledge of the handling of domestic violence
situations in the workplace:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando
o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a falta de conocimiento para el manejo de situaciones de violencia
domestica en su area de
trabajo:
a)At Cordilleras Filter Plant in Ciales, works four employees in 3 shift,
one employee per
shift, performing routine tasks during their working hours. This employees
were  not provide
with training related to the written protocol for the handling of domestic
violence in the
workplace which is required by the Act for the Implementation of a
Protocol to Handle Domestic
Violence Situations in the Workplace or Place of Employment, Act No. 217
of September 29,
2006.
a)En la Planta Filtro Cordilleras en Ciales trabajaban cuatro empleados en
tres turno de
trabajo, uno por turno, realizando tareas de rutina durante su jornada de
trabajo. A estos
empleados no se les  proveyo adiestramiento,relacionado al protocolo
escrito para el manejo de
violencia domestica en el lugar de trabajo que es requerido por la Ley
para la Implantacion de
un Protocolo para Manejar Situaciones de Violencia Domestica en Lugares de
Trabajo o Empleo,
Ley Num. 217 del 29 de septiembre de 2006.
