Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to toxic or unpleasant agents:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a agentes toxicos o desagradables:
At the Microbiology Laboratory of the Acueducts and Sewage Authority in
Arecibo, the
canopy fume hood in the autoclave room was not functioning. This hood is
used for the
extraction of the fumes that are generated when contaminated material is
sterilized. The
book Prudent Practices in the Laboratory published by the National
Research
Council
states that fume hoods protects the laboratory workers from toxic or
unpleasant agents
used in them.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is repair the functioning of the hood.
En el Laboratorio Microbiologico de la Autoridad de Acueductos y
Alcantarillados De
Arecibo, el extractor de campana en el cuarto de autoclaves no estaba
funcionando. Este
extractor es utilizado para la extraccion de los vapores que son generados
cuando
material contaminado es esterilizado. El libro "Prudent Practices in the
Laboratory"
publicado por el National Research Council dice que las campanas de
extraccion protegen
a los empleados del laboratorio de agentes toxicos o desagradables
utilizados en ellas.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo de correccion factible y aceptable para
corregir
este
riesgo es arreglar el funcionamiento del extractor.ento

exposed to lack of knowledge for the handling of domestic violence
situations in the workplace:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a falta de conocimiento para el manejo de situaciones de violencia
domestica en su area de
trabajo:
The Acueducts and Sewage Authority, did not provide training to the
employees of the
Microbiology Laboratory in Arecibo, related to the written protocol for
the
handling of
domestic violence in the workplace, which is required by the Act for the
Implementation
of a Protocol to Handle Domestic Violence Situations in the Workplace or
Place of
Employment, Act No. 217 of September 29, 2006. In the Public Policy and
Protocol for
the Handling of Cases of Domestic Violence of the Acueducts and Sewage
Authority,
Section XIV. Orientation and Continued Education the trainings are
promoted.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to provide training to all establishment's employees related to
a written protocol
for the handling of domestic violence in the workplace.

La Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados, no proveyo adiestramiento a
los
empleados del Laboratorio Microbiologico en Arecibo, relacionado al
protocolo escrito
para el manejo de violencia domestica en el lugar de trabajo, como es
requerido por la
Ley para la Implantacion de un Protocolo para Manejar Situaciones de
Violencia
Domestica en Lugares de Trabajo o Empleo, Ley Num 217 del 29 de septiembre
de
2006. En la Politica Publica y Protocolo para el Manejo de los Casos de
Violencia
Domestica de la Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados, Seccion XIV.
Orientacion
y Educacion Continua se promueven los adiestramientos.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo de correccion factible y aceptable para
corregir este
riesgo es proveer adiestramiento a todos los empleados del establecimiento
relacionado
al protocolo escrito para el manejo de violencia domestica en el lugar de
trabajo.
