Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: (a)CMC Corporation - Machine Shop #1 - On or about 04/19/06, the 5 Ton Dixie Overhead Crane did not have a safety latch on the hook. (b)CMC Corporation - Machine Shop #2 - On or about 04/19/06, the 3 Ton Abell-Howe Overhead crane had a defective safety latch on the hook. (c)CMC Corporation - Machine Shop #2 - On or about 04/19/06, the 3 Ton Shaw-Bon Overhead Crane had a defective safety latch on the hook. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to install a safety latch on the hooks in accordance with ANSI B30.16-1993, Section 16-1.2.9.93,
