Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:03/16/06 Location:Asphalt Conveyor Line Condition:Employees, operating, adjusting, and performing maintenance on a belt conveyor system were exposed to injury from being caught in, crushed by, and/or pinched by rotating and moving parts, had not been trained in the safe operation and maintenance of equipment. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to install an emergency stop device along the conveyor system, and to develop and implement a comprehensive safety/health training program for employees engaged in the operation, adjustment, and maintenance of the asphalt conveyor equipment, in accordance with American National Standards Institute (A.N.S.I.) B20.1-1985, Safety Standard for Conveyor and Related Equipment."
