pipe was used to transport compressed air on or about May 3, 2006. A
section of the
pipe exploded, causing exposure to the hazard of blunt force trauma
injuries.
Feasible and useful methods of abatement, among others would be:
a) Prohibit the use of compressed air to perform lead tests on PVC
pipelines.
b) Utilize the services of a licensed or specialized leak detection
contractor capable of
safely locating leaks without the use of compressed air.
c) Instruct employees on the proper precautions to be utilized when
working on or in
proximity to pressurized PVC pipes.
