Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to trusses tipping back and forth into each other and catching an employee in between and/or collapsing during truss erection: a)North end of structure - City of Star Well #3 Pump House - Floating Feather & Brandon Roads, Star, ID; On or about 3/19/07 and at times prior thereto, the employer did not provide adequate temporary bracing for the first wooden truss prior to placing additional trusses. Note 1: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be following the temporary bracing requirement for roof truss installation per the Wood Truss Council of America/Truss Place Institute's Building Component Safety Information Guide to Good Practices for Handling, Installing, Restraining & Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses. Note 2: Abatement certification and documentation IS required for this item.
