Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees who were exposed to potential explosive and fire hazards from not having a ready and convenient means of escape from the derrickman's working platform: (a) For the employees working on Rig #197, 8 miles south of Tioga, ND, who were not provided an escape line from the derrickman's platform that was a ready and convenient means of escape. Among other methods, one feasible abatement method is to attach the escape line directly above or to the derrickman's platform.
