Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards from standing on the guard rails of an elevated platform: a.On or about January 25, 2008, three employees working in a scissor lift were standing on the mid rails and top rails of the platform, exposing themselves to an 8 feet fall hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to comply with ANSI/SIA A92.6- 1990, paragraph 7.11.1, Personnel Footing. Personnel shall maintain a firm footing on the platform floor while working thereon. Use of planks, ladders or any other device on the aerial platform for achieving additional height or reach shall be prohibited. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS NOT REQUIRED.TION
