Title 40.1-51.1(a), Code of Virginia: Employer did not furnish employment, and a place of employment which were free of recognized hazards that were causing, or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employee(s) was exposed to fall hazards while performing job related duties when employee(s) was permitted to work from atop a precast concrete column, in excess of 6 feet above a lower level without fall protection. One feasible, and acceptable abatement method among others to correct this hazard is to comply with the company's written safety manual section 9, pages 23, and 24 which read: Employees exposed to the dangers of falling from a height of greater than 6 feet are not permitted to work without fall protection. Stay 6 feet away from all unguarded edges unless you are wearing personal fall protection equipment.
