Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:05/25/06 Condition:Employees were exposed to being struck by a collapsing wood floor joist system and falling 9 feet, and the floor joists were not properly braced to prevent their collapse. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with the manufacturer's recommendations for installation and for joist bracing as stated in the Truss Joist, Framers Pocket Guide to Frameworks Building System. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
