Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards from plastic pipe fragments: a. Plant - Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic pipe was used to transport compressed air in the facility, on or about April 26, 2006. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO REPLACE THE PVC PIPE WITH A TYPE OF PIPING THAT IS SHATTER RESISTANT, SUCH AS METAL OR OTHER TYPE OF MATERIAL RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR USE WITH COMPRESSED AIR.RESSED
