recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to struck by hazards while inflating tires on a portable hand
cart with compressed
Nitrogen at 300 psi:
1.Dry Chemical Fill Room: On or about May 15, 2008, an employee was exposed
to struck by hazards when a portable hand cart tire was overinflated with
300 psi
of compressed nitrogen.
One feasible and acceptable method to abate the hazard is to develop and
implement a written
procedure to ensure that maximum tire pressure is not exceeded when tires
are being inflated.
Employees shall be trained in this procedure and it shall be enforced.
Also, proper personal
protective equipment shall be provided and utilized.
