Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of crushing injuries from defective automotive lifts. One feasible and useful method to correct the hazard, among others, would be to contract with the manufacturer to service and maintain the lifts in a safe condition: Service and Repair Garage: Two of the Rotary automotive lifts were defective, in that, the safety dogs did not engage when the lifts were elevated. Written certification of abatement for this violation is required.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of struck-by injuries from falling weakened and rotted panels. One feasible and useful method to correct the hazard, among others, would be to replace the aging and defective doors with new ones: Garage bays 2 and 3 on the east side of the office: Several panels on the old, wooden overhead doors are in danger of falling down and potentially striking employees below.
