Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a
struck-by/crushing hazard from
suspended loads:
a) On or about 09/07/06, on the east section of a plaza, employees were
exposed to the hazard
of being struck-by a load of trusses that was suspended overhead and was
allowed by the
employer to walk under the load.
Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct this hazard
is for the employer to prohibit employees from walking under suspended
loads.
b) On or about 09/07/06, on the east section of a plaza, employees were
exposed to the hazard
of being struck-by trusses because they were not properly braced to
prevent their collapse.
Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct this hazard
was to follow the design and installation recommendation for adequate
temporary bracing as
designed by a Registered Professional Engineer, the manufacturer of the
trusses, or another
qualified individual designed in accordance with the guidelines for
bracing wood trusses from
the Truss Plate Institute.

REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
