Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by/crushing and drowning hazards: On or about 02/09/07, employees were exposed to struck-by/crushing and drowning hazards while operating riding mowers on steep slopes when cutting lawns near bodies of water. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to train employees on the safe operation of the equipment and the dangers associated with the operation of the equipment while working on steep slopes near bodies of water in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
