Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential injuries from unintentional or accidental operation of press brakes: a) Sheet Metal Fabrication Area/Di-Arco Power Press Brakes #1404, #1405, and #1408: Three Di-Arco Hydraulic Power Press Brakes did not have their foot operated tripping control(s) protected from unintentional or accidental operation, on or about 04/30/08. a) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to guard the foot treadles. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
