Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to using equipment such as overhead hoists that were not subject to frequent or periodic inspections: (a) Storage Area and Repair Area: On or about 4/2/07, frequent and periodic inspections of the hoists were not conducted at the facility. In addition, the control buttons were not legible to indicate their use. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to follow the recommendations for periodic and frequent inspections as outlined in the hoist manufacturer's operator's manual.r's
