Condition:Roof trusses were not properly braced in the top cord, web
member, and bottom cord
planes. Short pieces of lumber, "spacers," were used between adjacent
trusses to tie
them together which is not permitted.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to comply with the
manufacturer's recommendations on how to properly brace roof trusses or
follow the Truss Plate Institute's
BCSI-1-03 summary sheet.
The proposed penalty for this item has been reduced by 50for effective
and efficient abatement during
the inspection.
