General-duty citation text
T.C.A. 50-3-105(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employees were exposed to the hazards associated with the: a)relief valve on the water heater in the office which was pointed toward the door on the North side of the office and b) the relief valve on the water heater in the bath room in the bunk house were not plumbed to divert, away from employees, the stream of hot water and/or steam that would be released in the event of a water heater malfunction. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to have the relief valves plumbed with appropriate pipe to divert the stream of hot water and/or steam that would be released in the event of a water heater malfunction.
