Minn. Stat. 182.653 subd. 2: The employer did not furnish to each employee, conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards which caused or were likely to cause death or serious injury to employees: The Rigid 800 pipe threader located in the back half of the production area was not equipped with a foot activated switch. Abatement Guidelines: Reference ANSI standard for pipe tools B208.1-1982 (Cord-Connected Portable Pipe Threading Machines and Portable Power Drives-Safety Requirements) Paragraph 4.4, requires that a momentary contact device be used to control the power input to the cord- connected portable pipe threading machine or power drive. A guarded foot switch is an example of such momentary contact device.
