to falls of up
to 26 feet to the ground below from the work platform, attached to the Sky
Trak 6036 forklift,
which was wider than the overall width of the truck plus 10 inches on
either side.
b.On or about 10/3/07 at the job site:  Employees were potentially exposed
to falls of up
to 26 feet to the ground below from the work platform, attached to the
XTreme 56238 forklift,
which was wider than the overall width of the truck plus 10 inches on
either side.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to abate this
hazard is to use a work
platform that is designed in accordance with American Society of
Mechanical Engineers
ANSI/ASME B56.6-6-2002, Safety Standards for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks.
Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit an abatement plan
within 25 days
describing the actions it is taking to ensure compliance, including a
description of how these
steps protect its employees from falls from this work platform.
