Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that they were exposed to a struck-by hazard. (a)Inter-Rail Transport, Inc., at 9900 North Hwy 85, Henderson CO 80640: On and before January 10, 2008 the employer did not ensure the vehicle unloading ramps were in proper operating condition. The mobile vehicle unloading ramps had cracks, holes and hydraulic leaks. This condition exposed the employees to falls, crushing and struck-by hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: (1)Obtain current operation and maintenance manuals for the vehicle unloading ramps. (2)Develop and implement a training program for the inspecting employee(s). (3)Develop a site specific written maintenance and operation program for the vehicle unloading ramp. (4)Maintain mobile vehicle unloading ramps in accordance with manufacturers guidelines.
