General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 10/11/06 employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while an operator of a JLG manlift was being moved from the inside of a tarped enclosed area to the outside of the structure without having a clear view of the area in which he was travelling. Among feasible methods of abatement the tarp over the area that was to be travelled could have been temporarily removed during the removal of the aerial lift so the operator had full view of the path being travelled. Another feasible method would be to post a lookout when driving in areas where the operator's vision was obstructed.
