North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of North Carolina:  The
employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to a fall hazard:
a)3808 Six Forks Road (State Employees' Credit Union) - where an employee
had to stand on the
top of a Werner 6' fiberglass stepladder in order to reach a disconnect
while working on the
heating system.
ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO
USE A TALLER LADDER TO ACCESS THE DISCONNECT OR USE A POLE WITH A HOOK
ATTACHMENT TO REACH THE HANDLE OF THE SWITCH.
