Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: At the establishment, on or about January 31, 2007 and times prior and after thereto, employees were exposed to struck by and fall hazards where employees were allowed to climb the sides of tools while set into strongbacks to attach or detach the chain and hook used to lift the tool in preparation for transporting the tool to and from the press. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to discontinue the practice of climbing the sides of the tools.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about January 19, 2007, and at times prior and after thereto, maintenance technicians were exposed to the hazards of being struck by tools/molds and strongbacks stored in the maintenance area, which measured approximately 90-3/4" tall by 90-1/2" wide, and 16" depth with strongback, creating an unsafe work practice and unstable storage of the tools/molds. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to increase the base dimension or add extensions to the tools/molds to make them stable.
