Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Maintenance Area and Quality Control Room- On or about November 2, 2006, the equipment such as, but not limited to; the Roll-In Vertical Bandsaw in the and the Delta Vertical Bandsaw were not equipped with a device to prevent the saw's motor from automatically restarting after power was restored. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to include, but not be limited to the following: 1) Provide a magnetic restarter or similar device as required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B11.10-2003 Section 6.11, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. No abatement certification or documentation required for this item.
