Location: St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck, CT
On or about January 16, 2007, an employee was cutting tree branches with a
gas-powered chain
saw from the elevated front-end loader/bucket of the 110 John Deere
Backhoe, and the employee
was exposed to the hazard of fall 7 feet to the ground.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the
hazard is to:
1. Prohibit employees from using the elevated front-end loader/bucket of a
backhoe as a
workstation.
2. Provide employees with appropriate tools and equipment for the tasks.
3. Utilize other feasible and available engineering technologies.
4. Follow the Manufacturer's instructions and
