the hazard of being caught in an in-running nip point and the moving belt
and not having acess
to an immediate emergency stop in accordance with ASME/ANSI B20.1-2003,
Safety Standards
For Conveyors And Related Equipment, section 5.2 (c): No maintenance or
service shall be
performed when a conveyor is in operation except as provided in paras 5.2
&
5.3. and 5.11.2
(c) Emergency stops shall be immediately available.
Among other methods feasible means of abatement is to install a trip wire
on both sides of the
sorting conveyor and to prohibit cleaning under the belts when the
conveyor is running.
Violation occurred on or about 12/26/06.
