Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard by the improper use of a rough terrain forklift. Among other methods,one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct hazard is to comply with requirements set forth in the Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks. ASME/ANSI B56.6-2002. 215 Kemble Rd. (1) Use the rough terrain forklift in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. (2) Use the rough terrain forklift in accordance with the Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks ASME/ANSI B56.6-2002 (3) Design and use all platforms used to lift employees according to manufacturer's specifications and safety standards such as the Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks ASME/ANSI B56.6-2002. (4) Ensure that platforms used to lift employees are securely attached to the forks of the forklift. (5) Ensure that employees exposed to fall hazards are protected from falling by use of guardrail systems or fall protection systems.
