Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential struck by and caught between hazards associated with: Installing prefabricated roof trusses. Location: Jobsite Employees were exposed to struck by and caught beween hazards where prefabricated wood trusses were not sufficiently braced during installation. 16" pieces of 1"x3" wood strapping was used as temporary bracing opposed to 12' lengths of 2"x4" stress grade lumber. One feasible means and method of abatement, among others, is to implement the recommendations related to temporary bracing, as set forth by industry consensus standards institutes such as the Wood Truss Council of America or the Truss Plate Institute.
