Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burn hazards from hot cooking oil: (a) Location - Line 4 Fry Room: On or about 2/12/07, employees were exposed to burn hazards from an unsecured drain valve for hot cooking oil that was discharged onto a walking/working surface. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to relocate the drain valve and/or install a valve that is capable of being secured to prevent accidental discharge.
