The driver was walking on the trailer's deck (platform) that did not have a standard railing. b. Jobsite: Twin Oaks Terminal, Aston, PA.- On or about March 16, 2007 an employee (driver) was repeatedly exposed to a fall hazard (in excess of 8 feet) when engaged in the task of loading vehicles on a trailer (8527) while walking on a sleet- covered platform that did not have standard railings. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other means of abatement, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to implement the following process: (1) Eliminate the fall hazard of loading and securing vehicles and descending from the decks by using a trailer that allows vehicles to be loaded and secured from nearly ground level. (2) Equip trailers with guardrails. For those trailers that do not have side rails available, equip them with side rails to access the fixed ladders on the top decks. NOTE: ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.
