Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries: a) On or about 11/20/07 employees working in the Power House building of Westtown School, located on Westtown Road, Westtown, PA were exposed to being struck by falling supporting structural members caused by severely cracked beams. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods include the following: 1) To have a qualified structural engineer do a thorough evaluation to determine what repairs and/or modifications need to be made and to have qualified personnel complete repairs in accordance with the structural engineer's recommendations. 2) To remove employees from working in the building. NOTE: ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
