Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of lasers: (a) Location - Shop floor: On 2/21/07: Description: Cutting of flat and round cold-rolled, stainless steel and aluminum was conducted with Omada Class 4, carbon dioxide (CO2) laser systems. A laser safety program had not been established. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to establish a laser safety program in accordance with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z136.1-2000 American National Standard for the Safe Use of Lasers.d
