General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees working from a vehicle mounted elevating and rotating work platform (#10 bucket truck) which was unstable due to failure to properly maintain hydraulic pressure, control excessive swiveling of the bucket, and prevent unintended rotation of the turret: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to perform maintenance, inspections, and testing of the equipment as required by the manufacturer's Operator's Parts and Service Manual and as outlined in ANSI standard A92.2, 2001, American National Standard for Vehicle-Mounted Elevating and Rotating Aerial Devices.
