31-372-101 Section 31-370(a) of the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: Location: (A)City of Stamford Board of Education Building and Grounds (1)Employer did not provide a place of employment that was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees who operate a "Versalift" aerial device were not trained in the safe operation and use of equipment in accordance to manufacturers recommendations. Feasible Means of Abatement: (1)Ensure that employees who operate the "Versalift" aerial device with jib follow the manufacturers recommendations and that outriggers are used when loads are being lifted with jib. (2)Retraining of employees who operate the "Versalift" on the safe operation and use of the actual equipment that is being used by employees.
