Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Employees working in the shop area were exposed to the hazard of being crushed by a load while using the CM Lodestar 635 electric chain hoist to load and unload steel track shoes and the employer failed to establish and follow a program of frequent and periodic inspections. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to establish and follow a program of frequent and periodic inspections of the hoist system in accordance with meeting the requirements of ASME B30-16-2003, American Society of Mechanical Engineers for Overhead Hoists (Underhung), Section 16-2.1.5. ***Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d)***
