Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about February 25, 2008, an employee was exposed to falling approximately 7 feet to the concrete floor below when standing on the forks of the forklift to change light bulbs without fall protection while being elevated: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to: 1.Utilize a platform for elevating personnel meeting the requirements in ASME/ANSI B56.1-2000 "Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks" for employee use; 2.Institute and enforce a company policy prohibiting the elevation of employees with a forklift without an approved platform. ***Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c)***
