Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees working on the rear dock were exposed to being struck-by materials falling from the high-rise structure onto and through the sheet-metal roof. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is: 1.Brace, repair, or remove areas of the high-rise structure that may fall and strike employees. 2.Install a roof structure that is able to contain fallen debris and withstand the force produced by the falling concrete. 3.Eliminate employee exposure by discontinuing use of the area. ***Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c)***
