Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by motor vehicles: a) Route 80 West Mile Post 29.2 Mount Arlington, NJ. Employees were observed walking on the shoulder of Route 80 Westbound without the use of signs/traffic control devices to protect employees from being struck by oncoming traffic. Violation observed on or about 04/19/2007. One feasible means, among others, to correct this hazard is to follow ANSI D6-1.1988, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Section 6F.16 Table 6C-1.
