Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by/crushing hazard: a) On or about 04/24/07, employees engaged in the task of installing a metal canopy structure onto the south terminal of the Hartsfield International Airport, were exposed to a struck-by/crushing hazard from a truck crane that did not have the front outrigger fully extended. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to ensure the outriggers are fully deployed before raising the boom. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
