Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to high voltage electrical distribution lines by working within 10 feet of the energized power line: (a) Northwest corner of the intersection of State Highway 85 and State Highway 138, the employee working from an Altec aerial lift was working within five feet of the 7,200 volt electrical distribution line, installing a traffic control camera on the side of a metal pole holding up the traffic signal lights, facing the west bound side of Highway 138 ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED Among other methods, one feasible and effective method of abatement would be to have Georgia Power either de-energize the electrical lines or put protective hoses or blankets over the power lines.
