Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a) Employees were working on elevated forklift work platforms that extended more than 10 inches outside the wheels of the forklifts at 1892 and 1874 38th Avenue South in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to follow the American National Standards Institute B56.6-2005, paragraph 8.24.1(b) for platform width. Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were working on a forklift work platform that was left unattended at 1892 and 1874 38th Avenue South in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to follow the American National Standards Institute B56.6-2005, paragraph 5.15.1(s) and 6.2.11 for attending to forklifts. Note: This company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 309036713, Citation Number 1, Item Number 1B, issued on June 15, 2005. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion
