Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to explosion or violent release of fluid and or gas from a high pressure system connected to a gas well. For the employee working around and on the service rig drilling floor on or about May 28th, 2008. The employer did not ensure a person was on the floor qualified in well control procedures. Among other methods of feasible abatement, the employer should have a certified person on the rig floor during well control operations.
