Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck sharp pieces. On or about 10/18/07, at 470 Old Hawkinsville Rd., Bonaire, GA: a) Employees were exposed to a struck-by/explosive hazard. Employer was using PVC pipe to transport compressed air in the back shop, fabrication area to clean parts. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to:" The abatement to this hazard is to replace the PVC pipe with an industry recommended non- explosive material. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
