Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees ensure reliability and allow the continued safe operation of the lift, as required by ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2000. 2) Provide operator training as per ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2000 4.2.1. It states"The owner or employer shall ensure that operators of automotive lifts are instructed in the safe use and operation of the lift using manufacturer-provided instructions and warning labels and the Automotive Lift Institute publications, "Quick Reference Guide, Vehicle Lifting Points for Frame Engaging Lifts", "Lifting It Right", "Safety Tips", and this ALOIM Standard."
